Hello June

Linking up with The Tiny Twig’s June Goals post!

I’m just going to state the obvious here, but can you believe that 2014 is halfway over?! Don’t you feel like it was just yesterday that we were packing up Christmas decorations (which some people in our neighborhood have *ahem* yet to do) and cheering in the new year?

Maybe you’re in the same boat as I am…a bit adrift in this first week of June, with New-Years-Resolution-Fervor well washed away. Maybe you set sail into 2014 with the loftiest of goals, and you feel like you haven’t made an inch of progress. It’s alright. There’s a whole six months left in this year (and a lot can happen in six months!), and it’s never too late for a fresh start.

I’ve started the last three months by linking up with Hayley Morgan over at The Tiny Twig and her 2014 Goal Setting series. First of all, it’s a great way to intentionally mark out what I want to happen in the next month. Second of all, it’s really encouraging to know that I’m not the only one who doesn’t get it all done. Grace not perfection, right?

Speaking of grace, here are some beautiful things God did in May…
1. Final Grades: 3 A’s and 1 B!! Huzzah!
2. Hans is done with teaching for the summer ❤
3. Our epic garage sale.
4. She Reads Truth’s Nehemiah Study.
5. Taking Banjo “running” (does a 14 minute mile count as a run?)

How did I do on my May Goals?
1. Study the attributes of God Done! Such good reminders of His character!
2. Plan a mini summer vacation for Hans and I Done! We just need to nail down dates!
3. Make our office lovely + simple We’re getting there. Just waiting on frames from Ikea 🙂
4. { Secret Goal that I’m not sharing with the Internet 🙂 } Done!
5. Look into IRA accounts and other investments No 😦 Every time I thought about doing it, I got distracted. Good thing retirement is a ways off, though!

June Goals
1. Memorize Romans 8.
2. Find and commit to a Couple’s Bible Study.
3. Try a new fitness class at the gym.
4. { More Secret Goal Stuff }
5. ACTUALLY research IRA accounts and other investments!

What goals do YOU have this month, sweet friend?!

  1. Huzzah on all the wonderful things that happened in May!!! I too absolutely loved the Nehemiah study, and I am loving the Titus study too!

But here’s the future mom in me… Retirement is not really that far off, not in terms of savings. To be honest, when I decided to start my Roth IRA, at age 23, I had no idea what I was doing and only had the budget to put aside $25 a month. But I started!! Here’s a site that I used a lot for learning what to do and about my options:

I don’t agree with everything they post, but they are good about breaking it down into very simple words for us non-finance folks/ Check it out and start saving now! It is amazing how much more you can say the sooner you start. My husband and I have separate retirement accounts, he started many years before me and has almost 3x the amount saved as I do!!

    • Hey Chantel!

Absolutely – I am so excited to read along with the Living with Less series. Simplifying is SO huge on my heart right now, and I love reading other people’s thoughts about it, too!

  2. Memorize Romans 8…I LOVE that. So much truth and goodness in that chapter…why not literally write it on your heart.
And, a couples Biblestudy sound amazing! Can’t wait to hear more!

Haha, your secret goals!! Gosh it would just be terrible if I wrote every goal I had on the internet….some should NOT be posted!

    • Romans 8…ahh, yes. There is just an insane amount of truth in there. However, it’s also reeeeally long, so I don’t know if I’ll have the whole thing memorized by the end of the month!

Haha – secret goals 😉 I agree, not everything should be posted! It’s good to leave the internet guessing sometimes…!

Do you and Adam have a couple’s small group/Sunday school/Bible study at your church?!
