Grace Upon Grace | 14

Hello dear friend. I miss you.

The past few weeks have been busy…packed with a full time undergrad schedule (graduation, I’m coming for you!), starting a new job (as a receptionist at a Birthing and Women’s Center…which is rather ironic since I’ve always been like “I’m never having babies!”…apparently God has a sense of humor) and, you know, a husband/home/life.

Priorities, you know? For the next several months, school needs to come before blogging. So, believe me when I say that I do love you dearly and wish I could spend all my time creating great content for you and emailing you and encouraging you…but I *need* to graduate.

Forgive me if I’m a bit scarce around these here parts 😦

Let’s move on to something more positive, yes?

I firmly believe that raising up the name of Christ is the best way to start the week. Which is why I deeply love my friend Jordyn’s (She Who Fears) Grace Upon Grace link up! Jordyn courageously marks out the grace of God in her life lately and encourages others to do the same.

God is good. Can I tell you why?

O N E | Influence Conference! | AHHH! It’s Influence week! In a mere 48 hours, I will be on a train bound for Indianapolis and what I’m pretty sure is going to be one game-changer of a conference. The prospect of learning so much, meeting so many people, and digging into what God has for the future of OYD and I…it terrifies and excites me. A huge bear hug and thank you to everyone who has supported my trip…I can’t wait to tell y’all about it 🙂

T W O | Speaking of which… | I’m humbled by people who want to help me get to Influence. If nothing else, it’s a huge affirmation from the Lord that this blogging thing is significant and that He has good plans for it. It especially blows me away when a new friend orders one of my braided hex nut wrap bracelets, too! Today is your LAST CHANCE to order one!

T H R E E | Growth | When Hans and I got married, my mom gave me this little framed cross-stitch that reads “Love isn’t something you fall into, it’s something you grow.” At first, I remember thinking that it was an adorable load of crock. Love is supposed to be a breathless whirlwind, right? It can be sometimes, but it also takes work and growth. It takes pushing through dirt to reach the sunshine. Growth can be painful and hard, but it always, always, yields the beautiful and peaceful fruit of righteousness. Hebrews 12:11.

F O U R | Job | The aforementioned receptionist position was literally dropped in my lap by the Lord Most High. He gave me exactly what I needed – a job on the days I don’t have class that pays well and where I get to work with brave women who love helping other women. Thank you, Jesus!

What “grace upon grace” are you seeing God do in your life lately?

  1. mmhmm. Yes. what a great way to start a Monday!

Lately I find that Jesus blesses me in these little tiny ways when I am least deserving. Example: I was a sign language major but dropped out for various reasons but the past few weeks I have run into members of the Deaf community and dust off my Signing and converse with them. They always seem so happy that someone cared enough to stop and talk to them in their language and I always am blessed by it, too.

Things like that. Thanks for sharing!

  2. Yes yes yes! And congratulations on the job!

God has blessed me simply by reminding me of what He has already done in my life. When I start feeling overwhelmed, He reminds me of the times that He gave me complete peace. When I start stressing over student loans, He reminds me of the times He has provided COMPLETELY for even the smallest of needs. And when start to feel incapable of leading my upcoming missions trip, or incapable of finishing all of my undergrad assignments, He reminds me that He will equip me with everything I need to accomplish what He has called me to do.

Thanks for sharing & I can’t wait to hear about your time at the conference!

    • Hey there, Kelly! Thank you!

Have you ever done one of the She Reads Truth studies? They just started on 1 + 2 Peter and it reminds me so much of what you’re talking about…Peter was so not equipped for what God put in front of him, but He gave more grace and more strength. We truly cannot rely on ourselves…yet we find all we need in Him. Hallelujah!
