Who I Am

I’m Rachel Nordgren…a Jesus-loving, coffee-drinking, simplicity-seeking, belly-laugh-loving, happily-newly-married woman living smack dab in the middle of the country with a super fluffy sweetheart of a dog named Banjo and the cat my husband wanted.

My husband’s name is Hans. Clarification – he’s USA born and raised, his family is just really proud of their Swedish heritage. He follows Jesus, works hard, and loves me fiercely.

Some things you should know…

This blog was created in 2013, with absolutely no purpose in mind. It’s grown into a celebration of living simply in order to focus on what matters most.

I own exactly eight pairs of shoes and one purse.

I also own half a dozen coffee mugs and more books that I should…so, you know. Priorities.

Lemon is one of my favorite scents/flavors.

My heritage includes Italian blood, so I wildly wave my hands/talk loudly. A lot.

Hans is a die-hard Downton Abbey fan because of me 😉

I honestly would love to get to know you better. If you ever need a thing, please do comment or email me! I can’t wait to hear from you!

  1. Hi Rachel, will you pray for me to believe God’s love and forgiveness in Christ and gladly turn from sin to receive it? To have eyes to see Him as irresistably beautiful now and forever? Thank you.

    • Kathryn,

Of course! Your thinking is along the right track. I would encourage you to get involved with your Church and maybe a weekly Bible study to help deepen your walk with Christ. Community is a wonderful thing!

  2. Rachel!

Why am I just now following your blog journey?! You sure know how to create a perfect blog. I am so glad the Lord brought us together through FCA and that now I get to watch your life unfold with Hans.
Your love for the Lord is very contagious! I love the paragraph about not accepting the good people say, I feel you there!
Keep up the good work and keep shining!!

    • Hey Ashley! Yeah…I’ve been keeping this blog under wraps a little bit…it’s been fun to do it just for myself if that makes sense! I’m glad you found it, though! I don’t think I would define this blog as “perfect”, but that’s really sweet of you to say!! Haha there I go again…not accepting the good that people say about me!

Yes! I’m really glad you’re a part of FCA!! Are you excited for this weekend?!

Thank you for stopping by!! Seriously!!

  3. Hey Rachel! I am SO glad that I have found your blog! I love finding girls who have such a deep passion for Christ and I would love to get to know you more! I blog over at Sincerely, Lo and I would love for you to follow along 🙂

    • Hey Lauren!! I’m so glad you stopped by! I’ve been peeking in over at your blog, too…and I love reading about your journeys with Christ 🙂 I would enjoy getting to know you more, too!!

    • Hey there, Katie!! Thank you so much for popping in!

YAY! I so enjoy it when blogging connects people who are in the same season and place in life. It’s encouraging!! I will be sure to check out your blog!

  4. I LOVE Downton Abbey. And eight shoes and one purse?! I envy you. I want to become a minimalist, but I don’t know how to make the leap. I can rationalize all the reasons why I need these heels that I haven’t worn in four years. In reality, I wear two sets of heels, my chacos, tevas, sperries, and tennis shoes. I guess I need no more than that. I’m glad to have stumbled upon your blog, and look forward to reading more from you!

  5. I just love your blog! I rarely find a blog that I’m stuck on clicking on page after page and yours was definitely one of those! I’m excited to follow along and read more 😃

  6. Hi there! I just came across your blog today and it sure is fun to see how much we have in common 🙂 Your About page made me smile because I, too, am married to someone whose family is extremely proud of their Scandinavian heritage – my husband is named Bjorn and I could list countless other Norwegian names in the family! Anyway, it’s nice to “meet” you! I blog over at Just Bee (www.justbeeblog.com) by the way 🙂

    • OH MY GOSH!

That made me laugh so much. It’s great to know that I’m not the only one that married into a crazy proud Scandinavian family 😉 What are some of the other fun names that your husband’s family has?! We have a Kjell, a Lars, and a Nils!

From the pictures on your blog, it looks like you live in the Midwest, too! Yay for hay bales and corn fields!

      • 🙂 It sure is fun finding other proud Scandinavian families! 🙂 Let’s see, we’ve got Bjorn, Aeli and Signe, (2 of his sisters), plus more in the family like Kaia, Hans, AnnaLise, Annika, Haakon, Gertrude, Lara, Elsa… it was a lot to learn at first, but it’s so fun! 🙂

Thanks for stopping by my blog, too – it means a lot. Yep, I’m from MN and now I live in the southern part of the state – three cheers for rural! 😉 I look forward to following along with your blog! I’m glad we connected! 🙂

  7. Rachel I am so glad I saw your image on Instagram. I love your blog. The one thing I’ve been praying for is simplicity. Asking God to restructure my heart and mind to live simple and be satisfied. I’m working on this in this season of my life. Just know I plan to become your biggest fan 🙂 God bless you and again thank you for this awesome blog!
